That famous terra rossa Cab character — blackcurrant, mint, fine tannin. Balnaves is one of the appellation's reference houses.
The Balnaves family planted their vineyard in 1975, at the southern end of Coonawarra's terra rossa strip. They grew grapes for two decades before releasing wine under their own name in 1995. Cabernet Sauvignon now covers about seventy per cent of their 58 hectares.
The Blend is the house's entry point. It softens Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and comes from the same vineyard and team as the flagship wines.
Drink it midweek with lamb chops, a steak sandwich or a wedge of hard cheese. It is ready on release, and no cellar is required.
