Best's is one of Australia's most respected Shiraz producers. Great Western Shiraz with elegance and structure.

The Hamill in the name is Emily Grace Hamill, who married into the Thomson family and helped them buy Best's generations ago. The name has passed down three generations to Ben Hamill Thomson, who leads the winery today.

Under Ben, the family bought the Sugarloaf Vineyard in the hills near the Black Range, and this Shiraz comes from that site. The 2020 layers black cherry and plum over earthy pepper, with silky tannin and a long finish.

It has the tannin to cellar, but it drinks well now beside a steak or a slow lamb shoulder.
