About
Concentrated, structured, age-worthy Barossa Shiraz.
Utopos sources from a single vineyard on Roennfeldt Road, between Greenock and Marananga in the Barossa Valley. Blocks face every point of the compass, and the soil shifts from sandy red loam to cracking black clay across the site. That range in one vineyard is unusual for the Barossa, and it shows as layers in the glass, not one flat note.
Fruit gets a cold soak, then ferments on skins for about a week with the cap worked by hand twice a day. The wine spends around 18 months in seasoned French oak, mostly large foudres with some smaller hogsheads, never new wood.
This is built to hold, designed to peak around a decade in and keep developing well past that. Decant it now if you're drinking young, or put it away for a few years. Steak or lamb off the grill is the match.
