About
John Duval brings Penfolds-trained polish to a Barossa GSM. Concentrated, structured, serious.
Plexus is Duval's take on the Barossa's oldest habit, blending Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre. The 2022 runs 43 percent Shiraz, 41 Grenache and 16 Mourvèdre, drawn from parishes across the valley.
The oak handling is the tell. The blend spends 14 months in barrel, but only 8 percent of those barrels are new, and they are large French hogsheads. The rest are three to six years old. So you taste fruit and spice, not timber. The winemaking stays low-intervention throughout.
It drinks well the day you buy it, with lamb, roast meats or a steak off the grill. If you have patience, it will also reward eight to ten years in the cellar.
