At ten years on, this is showing real Bordeaux maturity — cedar, tobacco, leather over still-fresh fruit. Real Bordeaux at a fair price.
This is the second wine of Château Beaumont, one of the largest estates in the Médoc, with a history running back to 1772. Second wines draw fruit from the same vineyards as the château's main label, made for earlier drinking at a friendlier price.
The blend is built on near-equal Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, seasoned with a dash of Petit Verdot. The estate ferments in temperature-controlled tanks and ages its reds in French oak barrels.
A 2015 from a steady Haut-Médoc estate has done its waiting for you. Decant it for half an hour, then serve it with roast beef, slow-cooked lamb shoulder or a hard cheese. Drink it over the next few years.
