About
The new-wave Aussie Grenache style. Cherry, spice, herbs.
Aldo was the winemaker's father. He tended a small Barossa vineyard his whole life, and this Grenache comes off that block. The vines are more than 80 years old and dry-grown, never irrigated, which keeps the crop small and the fruit concentrated.
The 2022 was hand-picked and crushed to open fermenters, with one parcel left to ferment on wild yeast. After 14 days on skins it was basket-pressed to older French oak barriques, then bottled early to hold the fresh fruit.
Expect lifted raspberry and plum over the spice, with more depth than the pale colour suggests. Lamb off the grill is the match the style begs for, though charcuterie or a midweek pasta will do fine.
