From a small natural producer. Lifted, savoury, distinctive.

The fruit comes from the Killick vineyard in McLaren Flat, one acre of bush vines around forty years old. The vines grow in a sand hill built from wind-blown coastal sand, sitting over alluvial soil.

The winemaking leans on Beaujolais method. Ten percent of the fruit goes into the fermenter as whole bunches, the rest lightly crushed and destemmed. Everything ferments together in stainless steel with EC118 yeast and regular pump-overs over a month. It is then bag-pressed into seven-year-old French oak for three months and bottled unfiltered and unfined.

The Killick family farms and picks the vineyard themselves, tractor work included. Serve it with a slight chill alongside charcuterie, roast meats, or a hard cheese with some grip.
