About

Walcher's amaretto is built from Sicilian almonds, Peruvian cocoa beans and Madagascar vanilla beans. Rich, smooth, layered — the classic amaretto bittersweet almond character supported by genuine vanilla and cocoa depth. Pour over espresso or sip after dinner.

Walcher distils an organic wheat spirit as its base, then macerates the bitter almonds, Peruvian cocoa and Madagascar vanilla into it before straining. The distillery sits in Alto Adige's orchard country, where close to 280 sunny days a year and cool nights concentrate flavour in the fruit grown around it. Walcher leans on organic ingredients across its whole range, not just this bottle.

Alfons Walcher set up his first still in the basement of Turmbachhof, the family farm near Appiano, in 1966. The farm was already nine generations deep in Walcher hands by then. His sons Theodor and Matthias run the distillery now, still working with organic ingredients in small batches.

It carries real bittersweet almond character rather than syrupy sweetness, so a small glass goes a long way. Try it over vanilla gelato, alongside dark chocolate, or stirred into a tiramisu in place of the usual coffee liqueur.

Producer note

Walcher is a long-standing Alto Adige distillery.
