The Tally is the wine Balnaves holds back for the best years. The family makes it only in the strongest vintages, from the pick of their Cabernet Sauvignon on terra rossa ground.
Its UK importer ranks it among Coonawarra's great wines. The family has grown Cabernet Sauvignon on this ground since 1975. Before release, the wine matures in French oak barriques from the Taransaud cooperage.
This is a bottle to plan around. Cellar it for a milestone, or open it tonight after a long decant. A rib eye steak, roast lamb or an aged cheese will meet it well.
