Stone fruit, citrus and spice unfold across a layered palate with long persistence. Alsace style — fuller and rounder than German Mosel.
Cuvée Théo comes from a single walled vineyard, the Clos des Capucins, at the foot of the Schlossberg hill. Capuchin friars settled here in 1619 and gave the clos its name. The Faller family bought the estate in 1898 and has run it ever since.
The cuvée honours Théo Faller, who backed quality Riesling from this site when most of Alsace sold in bulk. The whole estate has been farmed biodynamically since 2005. Bunches are pressed whole, the juice ferments on wild yeasts, and the wine rests in old oak casks.
Roast pork is the classic table match. It belongs wherever butter and cream lead the cooking.
