About
Adelaide Hills altitude gives this Pinot Gris freshness most cheap PGs lack. Clean, dry, easy — the solid weeknight pour.
Emmalene is a partnership between two Adelaide Hills families. The Bartsch family grows the grapes and the Bulman family makes the wine. The name Emmalene appears in both family trees, which is where the label found it.
The fruit comes from four family-owned Hills sites: Echunga, Lenswood, Lobethal and Forreston. The vineyards run carbon neutral, with solar power, organic compost, permanent cover crops and winter grazing doing the work. All four sites are certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
Drink it young and cold. Pour a glass before dinner, or set it beside a salad or some simple grilled fish. Pear and apple lead, with citrus keeping the finish tidy.
