About
Citrus, stone fruit and floral notes with a slightly rounded, aromatic finish. Alsace style leans towards generosity — more body and texture than leaner German expressions.
The Buecher family has farmed this ground in Wettolsheim for seven generations, and sisters Amélie and Cécile have run the estate since 2009. Their vines sit on marl and limestone, soil that shows up as a chalky backbone under the fruit. The property has been certified biodynamic by Demeter since 2007, worked to lunar cycles and, in places, ploughed by horse.
This cuvée ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel, then moves into oak barrels for twelve months. That oak time is what rounds the wine out, not residual sugar, since it still finishes properly dry. No pesticides go near the vines, and the estate makes its own compost.
Serve it cool rather than fridge-cold, and give it a few minutes in the glass before the aromatics open up. It has the weight for a roast dinner or something with real spice in it.
