About

Macedon at its most precise — tart cherry, dried rose, a thread of forest floor and that trademark cool-climate tension. Drinks well tonight, better in a year.

This pinot noir is made from fruit grown at Quarry Ridge Vineyard in Kilmore, part of the Macedon Ranges. Silent Way itself, the home property, sits 550 metres up in what the producer calls an icy-cool pocket of the range.

Matt Harrop studied at Roseworthy College, then worked at Grosset and Brokenwood before nearly twenty years as founding winemaker at Shadowfax. He has been the winemaker at Curly Flat since 2017. He and Tamara Grischy bought the Silent Way property in 2007, ten years after they married.

The Wine Collective calls the 2024 a powerful vintage, with ripe black fruit, pomegranate and a touch of cassis over fine tannins. It is built to cellar five years or more. Duck, mushroom, or roast chicken all sit well beside it.
