About
Cherry, herbs, dry tannin. Built for the table — leaner and fresher than the Tuscan Sangiovese template.
Perlage is a Nardi family winery from the Veneto. Seven brothers, urged on by their parents Tiziano and Afra, converted the farm to organics back in 1985, decades before it was common. The house made its name with organic Prosecco. For this red they head south to the Marche.
The fruit is organically grown Sangiovese from vines around 25 years old in the province of Ascoli Piceno. Fermentation happens on the skins, the wine goes through malolactic, then it ages in tank rather than oak. Skipping the barrel keeps the fruit bright.
Give it a light chill on a warm evening if you like. It earns its place beside a midweek bowl of pasta as well as anything in the shop.
