About

Bussia is one of Barolo's most respected vineyard sites. Powerful, structured, age-worthy. A serious Barolo for serious occasions.

The fruit comes from the Bussia cru in Monforte d'Alba, in the Langhe. Barolo growers rate Bussia among the region's most serious sites. This wine gets a long maceration on the skins for full colour, aroma and tannin, then at least two years in large oak casks rather than small barriques, with more time resting in bottle before release.

Silvano Bolmida started the estate in 1999 with two hectares, converting his family's old tractor garage into the cellar. He trained in enology at Alba's wine school and taught there for more than twenty years. His children, Alessandra and Francesco, have since joined the business, working the same Bussia ground he started with.

This is a wine built for the long haul, structured enough to want a decanter if opened now. It sits well next to beef, game or a hard aged cheese, food that can meet Nebbiolo's grip.

Producer note

Silvano Bolmida farms in Monforte d'Alba, working with traditional methods.
